Why Do Babies Need More Sleep Than Adults ?

Babies need more sleep than adults because they are smaller than them. The smaller the baby the more sleep it needs.

Young babies do not do much except sleep and eat. Babies grow while they are sleeping so they grow faster than older children. The Older children don’t sleep as much but need more sleep than an adult.

After a long day adults need rest to replace the parts of their body. While they sleep their bodies are getting repair to be ready for the next.

Adults need food for energy, and children need food for bones and muscles. The grown ups just need energy from food because of all the exercise they do. Babies just need bones and muscles to grow properly.

Who Were The Spartans ?

Spartans were warriors that lived in the Ancient Greece, in a town called Sparta. They were know for honesty courage and their love of freedom.

In the Ancient Greece the boys of 7 years old ,got taken from their families, and trained for war. They had no luxuries but became Policemen or Soldiers.

The soldiers of Greece were fighting all the time. They captured men and women and turned them into slaves to do all the field work, they were called Helots.

In the town of Sparta the women were tough. Some families were so tough that if their son was defeated in a fight, they would be killed. But if the son won, they would celebrate and have a feast.

Japan's Diasaster Day

In Japan there was a devastating earthquake that had crushed lots of houses. This caused a Tsunami that swiped all the cars and broke roads. It was a huge disaster for the people in Japan and it was unexpected. Tokyo was engulfed by a tsunami which covered most of the area.

The earthquake hardly caused any suffering compared to the tsunami. Japan has had so many earthquakes that they have an earthquake sensor on their mobile phones that will tell them when an earthquake is about to occur.

A wall of water swiped all the people that lived on the side of the coast. It had completely destroyed the city. It was so bad that it created twice the damage than the Christchurch earthquake. The magnitude was 8.9 on the Richter scale.

A Nuclear plant exploded because the earthquake caused it. When it exploded it looked like a mushroom of smoke. I feel sorry for the families that have lost a family member. I also feel sad because so many people died, and many homes were destroyed.

Top Schools

“Yay Top Schools again! Remember that from last year?” I excitedly said to two of my friends. Their names are Darius and Starford. If you are wondering what I am talking about I’ll tell you. Top schools is an annual sports day where you do lots of fun activities. Primary Schools from around our area compete in the Top Schools day. At the end of the day schools get placed with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Every team still gets medals, even if you don’t place anywhere.

Some of the activities were the slippery slide, gumboot throw, ski race, and the husky run. I think that the husky run was the hardest part of the day because it was tiring pulling the sled. My favourite activity was the slippery slide because it was fun sliding down the hill in a fast motion.

At the end of the day I had enjoyed my time down at the Top schools because it was a bit of a challenge versing other schools around our area. When I went home I was exhausted.

Cricket

Yay Cricket again, I happily said to myself. On the second week of school room 17 went to their first lesson. Our mentors were Robin and Hammond from Auckland Cricket and on our last week we had another guy come in, called Chris.

On the weeks they came they taught us how to do a power shot, it is called the Front foot drive. They also taught us another shot called the attacking shot. On our second to last week Hammond told us that he was leaving so we were kind of sad but then he told us that someone else is coming so that mad us a bit happy again.

“Today we are going to practice some bowling” the new guy instructed. At first we didn’t know his name then he told us what it was. His name was Jamie. So we got started. First we had to choose a partner, then practice bowling. While room 17 were bowling to each other we had to try and hit a cone that had been placed in front of us. Then we got split up into two teams called the Aces and the Hearts followed by a cool game named Tower.

Mufti Day

Today is A Mufti Day it is for the people in Christchurch that have died. A Mufti day is a day when you come to school in any clothes you want. I like Mufti days because I don't have to find my school uniform in the morning.

When I arrived at school I was nervous because I was just wearing normal clothes. Anyway when I was walking into the entrance I saw my friend Logan. I asked him if he had any money because I did I had three dollars and he had four dollar.

When the first bell rang I ran to class to go on my netbook and I was playing games. I was playing Extreme Tux Racing it is a cool racing game. All you do is slide around on your belly.
