Netbook Reflection 2012

I have enjoyed having a Netbook. It helps me to teach myself in some ways like, not waiting for Mr Barks to tell me what to do. I can do what even I want, as long as it is work related.

I liked having my Netbook the very first time I got it, so I can’t imagine what it will be like without it. Working old fashion (Paper & Pencil) will be a nightmare for me because it takes me forever to write an acceptable piece of writing.

If I had the chance to make some changes on my Netbook I would only make the Internet work faster, and that’s it. My Netbook is awesome I will not change a thing. Beside the internet.

Sometimes having a Netbook can be annoying because if you take it home, you must remember to bring it back to school. But most of the time its cool having a Netbook. I LOVE MY NETBOOK!!!

Telecom Lighting the Christmas Tree Event

Kingston & Darius are going to a Lighting the Christmas Tree event ran by Telecom. Kingston and Darius are both twelve years old.

The two of them, and some others kids from Pt England went to Telecom in Town. When they arrived there, these two ladies From Telecom named Courtney and Karyn guided them to Victoria Park. That is where the event was going to take place.

As the night passed by Kingston began to feel hungry. He was starving because he didn't take any food to eat. He wasn't the only one that was hungry, His friend Darius was also hungry. They wondered how they were going to solve the problem.
“Ok guys here are some bags of food for everyone to eat” The Two ladies from Telecom said.
Kingston and Darius were happy to hear the news from the two ladies. As soon as the two hungry boys received their bag of food they demolished all the food inside it, and sat for a while to rest their stomachs.

The Host said “ On three I want everyone to shout a big HO,HO,HO.” Everyone did but it was not loud enough so the tree only lit to half way then went back down again. The Host said “ come guys that wasn’t loud enough, so again he said on three shout a big HO,HO,HO.” Everyone did and the tree lit up to the top and it look so cool.

As the night came to an end everyone from Pt England had enjoyed their time and was ready to go back to school and get picked up. Kingston  had the time of his life and it was a night that he will never forget!

NARRATIVE WRITING

Kingston was so happy that it was Sports Day. Kingston Is a 12 year old boy who is not Athletic but he still enjoys his School Athletics Day. “ Oh man I cannot wait until  Athletics start.” Kingston said

“ OK, first the  12 year old boys will be going to  the 75 & 100 metre sprints along the side of the far end of the field.”  as Mr Jacobson said “Take your marks, get set, go!” I was thinking of how fast all the other competitors were . As soon as the 12 year old boys came to their last activity until lunchtime Kingston remembered something. It created a big Problem.

"Oh no I ate all my lunch at morning tea, so I am going to have to starve for the hole of lunchtime."As Kingston sat on the grass just waiting for the lunchtime bell to ring he heard a voice behind him. He had no idea who the mysterious person was, so he slowly turned around and guess who it was..... It was his Dad.

"Hey Kingston, do you have any lunch?" His dad asked. "No But can you please go and buy me some." Kingston replied. Kingston was so happy that his dad bought him some lunch, because he was terrified to experience being hungry for the hole lunchtime."Thanks dad." Kingston said as his dad left to go home.

Kingston had fun at his school Athletics and  enjoyed his lunch from his dad. Even though he is not an athletic person he did well in most of his activities.

Catch Of The Day (Kingston & Dillon) Buddy Writing

It was the perfect day to go out for fishing so Rex decided to pick his mates who are brothers, John and Cliff. “Yeeha, are you ready to go fishing boys?” “Yup!!! I sure am replied John.” Cliff said “ I'm not sure because this will be my first experience going fishing”.

“I think I got a big one boys, look at my line it looks like the fish is going to snap it” announced Cliff. “I don't think I can handle it and remember I'm only a beginner.” Cliff got pulled into the deep blue sea with the wild fish. “Don't panic” yelled Rex.

“Just stay in there and we'll send out a life ring to save you”. “ OK, but hurry” replied Cliff. Whoosh!!! and Rex sent out the life ring. The boys grabbed a hold of the rope and Rex counted to three “1 2 3 pull with all your strength. Since there were three boys fishing on the boat it was easier to pull Cliff in with the life ring.

The day was over and the boys were exhausted, so they rushed home and fell in there beds. Cliff had the catch of the day, they had the best breakfast ever.

Back To The Same Routine!

“Hello School I haven’t seen you in a while” I said as I walked into the entrance to school. As my teacher talked to the class about what the school was learning about this term and what we were going to be doing I thought to myself, Mr Barks has actually planned out the term pretty well. The theme or topic for the term is going to be Toy Story. The topic is not about the movie Toy Story it’s about your story behind a particular toy or a favourite toy you have or wish you had. I am looking forward to this term and can’t wait to share stories about my favourite toy, I also can’t wait to hear stories about other people’s toys that they like!

Mini Olympics ( Sports Day ) Improved

“Please, please, Mr Barks, please, say i’m in Jamaica!” Mr Barks announced out loud,  “Kingston and Starford are in Jamaica” “YES”, I was so happy. Last week Pt England had a Mini Olympics day.

The first game of the day was Sitting Volleyball, against France, which was my mate Dillon’s team. We split into two teams and I was in team B for Jamaica. Both of the Jamaica teams did well but we lost to France. Team B’s results were 2 games all and Team A’s were 3 games to 5.

As the day was passing down, I eventually got hungry and couldn’t wait for lunchtime. After lunch was over, my stomach was full and I was ready to play some more fun sports. The Mini Olympics was held at Pt England, suddenly it came to an end. “Finally the day is over, I am so tired.” I said to my mates.

At the end of the day I believe everyone from Jamaica did their best, and gave it 100%. I was so proud of my team and I was happy that I was represented in the Jamaican team. One week after that the results from the sports day were revealed and in first Place was Ireland.

I enjoyed myself at the sports day and really hope Pt England have another one. If we do have another sports day the team I am in is going to come first!

Best Night Of My Life! ( Improved )

This is some moves that Nez did at the Social.

“Yeah buddy! social tonight” I said to my friends.
Last week the year 7&8’s had a social to fundraise for the year 8 camp, at the end of the year.

“Ok guys we are going to have a Dougie competition”, the DJ said. As everyone was approaching the centre of the dance floor I saw one stand-out and it was Nez. He was doing  cool moves and he looked cool. At the end of the competition the winner ( of course ) was Nez.

Man I was having the time of my life, just like they say “enjoy it while it last”. That is exactly what I did. I was dancing all night long until I got tired, so I had to sit down for a few minutes. After I had finished resting I got up and went to dance some more.

I enjoyed the social and thanks to my mum for buying my ticket. I reckon the people that hosted the social did a good job, and if they do another social I am definitely going to go!

Pepa Day Out

“I’m not ready to record, I forgot the lyrics!” A small group of rap boys have recorded some footage of a song called ‘Go Hard’ by Tyson Tyler and J williams. We went to different locations around Auckland to record.

The Pepa rap boys went to places around Auckland like the Museum, Town, Sky City, Burger King and recorded in the Green room at school. All the boys including me were all excited  to go around Auckland as a group. I was so happy that I got dressed one hour before I left my house.

As we arrived at different locations we all were starting to get hungry. We went to Town and saw these guys dancing on the street with a little stereo. “Why not dance with them, it will be fun” all of us said. So we went and had a dance battle.

It came to a point where we all had to eat because we were starving. So we all went for lunch at Burger King. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. As I looked around to see what everyone else was eating they had big burgers and fries.

The Pepa boys day out was fun, and I really enjoyed it. I went home with a smile on face and of course a full stomach!

League Tournament (Improved)

“Oh yes! The league tournament is today” I said with expression. Last week there was a League tournament held at Dunkirk between the local schools, Bailey road, Stanhope, Tamaki and the two A and B teams from PE (Pt England)

We the Pt.England Team A and B arrived at the Tamaki Marist fields. Looking at the other players from different schools I said "man there huge and tall!". I looked around at my team there were no big players except for the year eights, and Richard. I was in the second team ( team B ) because I was not a good player and I didn’t go to all the trainings.

My team started our first game, and I hopped I could score a try because it would be so awesome. I would be so happy even if I was close to scoring a try. I reckon I had a good run and nearly scored a try, but I just got cut down close to the try line.

At the end of the tournament I was a bit confused of who came first, second, third, fourth and fifth. I know that bailey Road came first, Pt.England A came second, I think Tamaki intermediate came third, Stanhope came fourth and My team team B came fifth. Even though we came fifth I was still happy that we competed in the tournament.

All of the boys that represented PE were proud of them self and so was I. Next year I am going to try my hardest to make the A team!

Family Outing

“Get ready we’re going soon”, my dad said. I was so excited to go to the beach because it was a hot day and I hadn’t been for a swim in ages.

“Aye this doesn't look like the beach”. We had arrived at Sylvia Park to pick up some food to eat at the beach. My family and I had heaps of plans but we all wanted to go to the beach, that was the first plan anyway.

As we approached the beach we didn’t see anyone swimming, but as we reached the sand there was only a few people in the water. It was cold enough that it was windy so I wondered  what it was like it the water. I touched the water and the first thing that went in mind was... “ I AM NOT SWIMMING IN THIS COLD WATER!”

I was really bored sitting on the sand watching people swimming in the water. I couldn’t stand being bored, I was supposed to be having fun, so I had no choice but to dive straight into the cold water. I swam around for abit then I was used to the cold water and in no time I was actually thinking the water was sort of warm.

I had enjoyed going to the beach with my family, and definitely would want to go again!

My Improved Piece Of Writing ( Electronic Badge )

“Yes we’re nearly finished.” Today the year sevens from Pt England went down to Tamaki College for tech (Technology). I was so excited because I knew my group was going to be finishing a badge in electronics.

“Come on guys we have to finish this today.” As my group and I were putting things together I started to get confused because I forgot where the battery clip went. Luckily my group remembered, so we were sweet.

As my group and I came to the finishing point, everyone in it were looking relieved. After all our hard work ( “actually the girls hard work” ) we finally finished the badge in it was ready to fire up. We had great difficulty with making all nine L.E.D lights working.

“Come on, come on” I said, we tried to make the badge work but it just didn’t seem to get working. One light worked and that was not good. But we were still happy, because at least one out of ten worked. When Mr Maholtra marked our badge we got an alright score but it could've been better if all the lights worked.

I enjoyed making a badge in electronics and can’t wait to see what i’m going to be doing in my next tech class. I have learnt alot of things and picked up some experience and hope I can use that experience in the future!

Reflection On My Project

In the past few weeks The year 7&8 extension group have been making movies about an Olympic Controversy. I have made a movie about a Controversy that happened in the 1956 Olympic games in Melbourne. I have had trouble making this movie but I am happy that I completed the task.

I reckon I have done good in some areas like my graphics and voice over but I think I did bad with my script and conclusion. I hope I get good marks because it took me a long time to put this movie together.

Lunch At My Auntie's house... Here we come!

Oh man I am so excited, I said to myself. Last week my family and I went to my aunt's new house for lunch. I couldn’t wait because it was my first time going to her house.

As soon as we arrived at her house I went to say “hello” and waited in their lounge for lunch. I could could smell the food from in the lounge, it made my mouth water and it also made me more impatient. When my aunt said “foods nearly ready” I was happy and couldn’t wait for the moment to start eating.

As I took the first bit of a samosa I was surprised by the beautiful taste. Then I took a spoonful of curry chicken and rice. I was very satisfied by the food that I think I went back and had another two plates of food.

After a nice lunch my family and I watched a bit of T.V then not long after we got ready to go home. I hopped in the car with a big smile on my face. As we drove out of their driveway my family happily said goodbye and waved.

I had enjoyed my time at my aunt’s house, and there's no doubt that I want to go again!

Level 1... Beep!

“Beep... Oh no, I knew this was going to be a bad way to end the day. Last week Room 18 did the Beep Test I did not look forward to it.

When I started jogging to the first line, I already knew that I was going to pull out near level two or three. After a few minutes jogging I was starting to die out but I managed to carry on. it was tiring because it went level 1 stage 1 to stage 8.

As I got around level 2 stage 5 I was really feeling tired but I was trying to push myself. I was out of breath and had no choice but to pull out. I pulled out at level 3 stage 1 And I was disappointed because I wanted to get to Level 4.

I didn’t like doing the Beep Test but I guess it is good exercise. Even though I didn’t reach the level I wanted to reach I still enjoyed doing the Beep Test, and next time I am going to try to achieve my goal!

Saturdays Win

“Ok team, 10:30 down at Hamlin park is where we are going to meet.” said our coach. Last week my Rugby club ( Marist ) had a game against Mt Wellington.

On that day I was a bit lost because I was not listening to my coach when he was explaining where we were playing. I finally arrived at Hamlin park, raced to the fields and put my boots on. After a few minutes I asked my coach if we were still having a game because the other team wasn’t there. Finally they showed up.

During the game I was getting worried that my club was going to lose because the other team was scoring heaps of tries. In the end we managed to hold them off and win. After the game was finished My team lined up shook hands with the other team and sat down with the other members of the team.

“Ok team I am going to give out the certificates for outstanding achievement and player of the day.” In my head I was saying to myself it’s definitely not going to be you. BUT NEK MINUTE....... “ Kingston Lagitupu for outstanding achievement”. I was so shocked and happy because it was my first time getting a certificate.

At the end of the day everyone was tired and couldn’t wait to get home. I was definitely looking forward to going home, and enjoying the rest of my day!

Valentines Restaurant / Uncle's Birthday

“Yeah I can’t wait till tonight!” Last week all of my dad side of the family, including me went to Valentines for my uncle’s Birthday.

After the prayer was said I happily joined the queue. “Man this looks delicious”, I said to myself. I had stacked on chips, fish, butter chicken and to wash it all down with a glass of nice cold water on the side. As I was munching into this delicious food, I stopped for a second and said to myself “hang on if I eat heaps now I with have no more room in my stomach for dessert.

I might wait a few minutes before I have dessert. After sitting down for a few minutes I was ready for dessert. There were heaps of things to eat but I just had Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. After one bowl I went for one more then I was full.

At the end of the night I was happy and I had enjoyed myself. I deffinetly want to go there again!

Reading Eggs

“Ok class today we are going to be exploring a new reading program, called reading eggs”. Last week Room 18 started using a new reading program to improve there reading. So far I am enjoying it.

When we go on to reading eggs we are only allowed to do activities that will make us improve. This is because there is are place on the program that you can buy stuff to dress your avatar. For example if you are caught dressing your avatar during school time, you will immediately be on detention no questions asked. Note to myself: YIKES DO NOT GO TO THE MALL!

I reckon that I’m at an average level for my reading. Now that I have been introduced to this site it is definitely going to help me improve. I am not that good at reading but I am going to learn heaps of new things that I have never known about.

So far I think this program is interesting and it is also a fun way to get better at reading. The only negative thing about this program is that it can be very tempting to go to the mall and purchase stuff. I could not wait to see want things there were inside the shopping mall, so as soon as I got home  I went straight to the mall and dressed up my avatar.

Overall I think this program is going to help burst my reading up to a high level that is expected for my standards!

Hoyts Cinemas Here We Come!

“Are you guys ready?” I asked Ahsin and James. Last week on Friday Ahsin, James and myself went to the movies to watch the new Spider Man ( Spider Man 4 ). We were all filled with excitement and couldn’t wait to arrive at the Hoyts Cinemas in Sylvia Park.

That Friday at school my friends and I were all planning to go to the movies. “Should we catch the train there?” James said. I thought that catching the train would be wasting money so I decided to ask my mum to drop us off.

As soon as the movie started we straight away stopped talking and focused onto the screen. While watching the movie I bought out some popcorn to share between the three of us. The movie was really about two characters, Spider man and This reptile dude ( A.K.A DR Curt Connors).  The Reptile man is a scientist that wanted to get his arm back because he only had one arm. He had been studying all his life and finally he got what he wanted.

As the movie was coming to an end, the three of us wanted to stay in the theater because it was comfortable and warm. We picked up a phrase from the movie that we like and we now say it at school. The phrase we liked was ‘ITS NOT MY POLICY’.

Even though we wanted to stay at the theater for longer we were still happy that we even made it to the cinemas. The movie That I am next planning to go to is ‘Snow White And The Huntsmen.

Archery Olympics

Do you know what archery is about? Well if you didn’t, it’s a type of sport that involves using a bow and arrow. This year the Olympics is on and it is going to be held in London. It is our topic for this term and our theme is ‘Go for Gold’.  Room 18 have been assigned a task to find an Olympic sporting event to write about. I have chosen archery because it looks cool and it is something that I have never done before. I thought it would be an interesting sport to write about.

I found out that there are hardly any rules for archery, except that you need to shoot the arrow and get it as close as you can to the bullseye. The following are safety rules that apply in archery. First you need to safely keep the bow and arrows out of reach of children. You also need to hold the arrows and bow towards the ground, and last of all do not poke anyone with any sharp parts of equipment.

Archery first appeared in the time of ancient Egypt. They adopted archery at least 5000 years ago for the purposes of hunting and warfare. The bow was actually invented thousands of years before that. The use of bows and arrows for warfare died out after the invention of guns.

These days archery is used only for sports, competition and for fun. Archery has become more popular from movies like ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. I have learnt heaps of interesting facts and information about archery. I found out things about archery that I never knew before.

After seeing people on T.V shooting arrows it has made me realize that archery is a dangerous sport. Anyway researching information about archery was an interesting task. One day I hope that I could actually shoot some arrows at a shooting range!

Olympics

“Olympics!” As soon as I heard that Your topic for this term was Olympics I was filled will excitement.

I have learnt some interesting facts about the Olympic rings. Did you know that the colours of the Olympic rings represent at least one colour from every country's flag in the world. I have also learnt that the design of the symbols were copied from ancient times in Greece.

The Olympic flame is a symbol of the Olympic games. The tradition of lighting an Olympic Flame comes from the ancient Greeks. I have been told, that if you get the opportunity to light the Olympic flame you are a lucky individual.

If the Olympics was in New Zealand I would try to go and watch it, even though I wouldn’t even go!

Term3 Starts!!!

Term three has started and our topic for the term is Olympics. I am not that fascinated by the London Olympics because I hardly watch sports. Even though I don’t really know much about the Olympics, I can’t wait to see what we are going to do this term.

On the first day of term 3, the whole school came to the hall for an immersion assembly. Every team from team 1 - team 5 had to do an item or make a movie, to show to the school. I reckon that the  team 3 item was cool because they had some good acting and good information to share with us.

The event that I will probably be most interested in, is going to be the sprints. I have chose the sprints as my favourite event in the Olympics, because of a movie I saw that had people dashing to the end of the race court. This might be the first year I watch the Olympics.

This term every student in the Senior block are setting goals. My goal is to get fit because I want to get better at playing Rugby. The whole school are going to start next week but I have already started training at home.

This term I am going to try to get fit like an athlete. It is going to be a challenge for me to get fit because I am not looking forward to training, but I will have to do it if I want to get fit like an athlete!

Term 2 Best writing

“Yay! only one more week until school holidays.” It is only Monday and already I can’t wait.
I am so happy that term 2 is nearly finished, because as soon as I get home I am going to relax and watch movies. Whoever is reading this I am pretty sure you are happy that the term is nearly finished too.

I don’t know what i’m going to do in the holidays, but when that day comes I will decide what to do. If it is hot in the holidays I might go to the beach for a swim. I have heaps of plans for the holidays but it all depends on the weather.

In the holidays I am so looking forward to going to the Panmure Wharf. The Wharf is a little platform that extends right out to the water. If it is sunny I am going to go to the Wharf everyday. This is one of my favourite places outside of school.

I have been working on this piece of writing for the whole week, so that means today is Friday the last day of term 2. Everyone have a good break in the holidays and see you all in Term 3!!!

My Favourite Place In The School

Last week room 18 have been given the task to take photos of their favourite place in the school. Then we have to sketch and paint them in a particular style.

”Oh man what am I going to choose”. I had a hard time trying to pick where my favourite place was. There were heaps of places to choose from like the Fields, the Breeze and the drinking fountains. “ This one is the best!” At the end of all my deciding The Street stood out the most for me.

The Street is my favourite place in the school, because I like to hang out there everyday. The Street is a little building in our school that the senior classes are in ( A.K.A the senior block). My last reason why I like the Street, is because if it wasn’t there all the older kids (including me) will have to be surrounded by the little kids classes.

After we take our photos we have to sketch them in a style of an artist. Anyway We are sketching our photo’s because Pt. England School is having an Art gallery. Thinking of what my work will look like I reckon it will probably sell for at least $10.

Since our Pt england school Art gallery is next week my class is sketching this whole week. If you are reading this post, you should come to our gallery because you never know you might find something you like.
